How does the cat go in?
UPRIGHT MODELThe cat enters through the large opening
on the side of the cabinet. They put their paws up on the edge,
then push up, entering onto the plastic GRID. They go around a barrier
and down through a large opening to get to the litter pan in the
bottom. When finished they must walk on the Grid, around the barrier
to exit. The GRID removes the litter from the paws and it falls
back into the litter pan. (The barrier prevents the cat from jumping
straight out, without walking on the grid.)
LOW MODELThe cat enters at floor level through the
large opening on the side of the cabinet, walks across the GRID/TRAY
area, around 2 barriers and into the litter pan. When finished the
cat walks across the GRID again, around the 2 barriers to exit.
The barriers make the cat walk on as much grid as possible to remove
the litter from the paws.
2.
Is it really dog proof? Toddler Proof?
The Upright model is
guaranteed to be dog proof, no matter the size of the dog.
If you have a tiny dog, similar in size to a cat, it is possible
for him to get into the Low Model if he is determined enough. Large
dogs cannot get into the Low model at all.
Toddlers...It keeps
the litter off the floor where toddlers play.
It keeps the pan out of sight and away from them.
3.
Why does the 300P cost more than the 300 Light Oak model?
The difference is the materials. The 300 Light Oak is Melamine,
which is laminate over furniture grade particle board.
The 300P is made of plastics/acrylics which are more costly. This
model is the easiest to keep clean and sanitary. It will not be
damaged by urine or absorb odors.
With the 300 Light
Oak Melamine model we strongly recommend using a taller container
(storage box) to protect the cabinet from possible urine overspray.
This model has a plastic base/floor panel for quick cleanup,
which can be sealed in with caulking (silicone, latex, etc.) We
use the STERILITE® Storage boxes (58 qt., 66 qt.) which are
12" High to contain litter and urine. Available in housewares
at WalMart and Target and other stores. There may be other brands
that fit available near you. You could also put a smaller pan down
inside the taller one if you prefer.
4.
What if my cat is large?
The openings on both models are large enough for cats up to about
25 pounds. After using it a few times the cat will move through
it easily and without hesitation.
5.
How do I choose which model is best for my cats?
Most cats get around well and have no trouble getting into anything
they wish. If the cat can easily get to the sofa, bed, or even tables
or counters, then the Upright Model would be appropriate.
If the cat has trouble making it to the bed or sofa, we would recommend
the Low Model which requires no jumping. Easy in and easy out.
6.
Which model is the most popular?
The Upright model is by far the most popular, for several reasons.
It controls litter tracking the best.
It holds the largest litter pan.(Up to 23" x 17")
It will accomodate a taller container if you need it.
It takes less floor space than the Low model, using
no more space than your jumbo or covered pan.
It is available in the Light Oak Melamine material
which blends well into your home, in addition to the Plastic/acrylic
materials.
7.
What are the advantages of the LOW MODEL?
The main one is the ease with which an older or less agile cat can
use it.
Another reason may be that it fits under places that the taller
model won't. It is 31"L x 19"H x 19"D
It holds a litter pan 15" x 18" x 7"H. We use and
recommend the Stylette (#2601) Extra Large Litterpan.
8.
What if I have a kitten or very small cat?
If you have a kitten, get the Upright model since the kitten will
grow into it in a matter of weeks.
If you have a small cat (or kitten) you can still use the Upright
by raising the litter pan inside the cabinet by putting something
under the pan which will bring it up closer to the grid. A stack
of Newspapers of several inches would do it. Put them into a plastic
bag for ease of cleaning. Just make sure the pan is not wobbly.
9.
Will the Purr-Fect Privy® work for multiple cats?
Since the litter pan capacity is large you could use it for several
cats. It really depends on the individual cats and how often you
clean the pan.
10.
How do I clean the litter pan?
The front door panels are designed to lift out easily
to give you full access to the litter pan. You can even store your
scoop next to the pan. Install the doors by lifting up first into
the upper groove, then lowering a bit into the lower groove. Easy!
11.
Do I have to assemble it? Is it easy?
Yes, it comes unassembled with good instructions.
BONUS: You get to choose on which side the entrance
will be placed.
You only need a Phillips head screwdriver. Power is fine. If using
a hand held, be sure it is a sturdy one with a good tip, or it will
be more difficult to turn the screws. Call if you need help!

13.
How do I clean the cabinet?
The Light Oak melamine material can be cleaned with any spray cleaner
or mild detergent. Dry it immediately after cleaning. Do not leave
it in standing water since that would damage the materials. The
Plastic/Acrylic models can be cleaned by spraying, washing, scrubbing,
hosing down, etc. The material will stand up to all moisture.
